Marou Chocolate

Founded in 2011, Marou is one of the first bean-to-bar chocolate makers based entirely in Vietnam.

It was created by Frenchmen Samuel Maruta and Vincent Mourou, who made Vietnam their home and set out to craft world-class chocolate using Vietnamese-grown cacao.

Marou produces all its chocolate in Ho Chi Minh City, using only local ingredients and working closely with smallholder farmers in provinces like Ben Tre, Lam Dong and Tieng Giang - naming each bar after the region and showcasing the rich diversity of the terroir.

Marou's flavour profile is like no other - think spice, red fruits, hints of tobacco and nuts - layered and bold.

Marou has earned a global following both for its exceptional taste and its beautiful packaging - gold foil wrapped and covered in paper inspired by traditional Vietnamese art.

Since the untimely passing of Samuel Maruta, Marou continues to honour his vision of craft, transparency and origin driven chocolate.

We were delighted to be the first to stock Marou in Ireland back in 2014 and it remains one of our most distinctive bars on our shelves.
