I came across Cacaosuyo Chocolate “the best kept secret of the Incas” while travelling in Peru in 2017 and immediately adored the taste. Cacaosuyo are a young company who are passionate about using the best cacao to produce fine chocolate - first by rescuing cacao varieties that were thought to be lost and then controlling fermentation of the beans post harvest so that the unique flavour of each cacaobean is revealed in the final chocolate bar. Furthermore no cocoabutter is added other than what is naturally produced by each type. Cacaosuyo invest long hours in training, carefully studying the Venezuelan tradition initially, committed to creating a chocolate that reflects its unique terroir. So naturally we’re delighted to be the first stockists in Ireland of this beautiful chocolate.
Cacaosuyo took home a number of International Chocolate Awards for the 2020-21 season, including Gold awards in the "Chocolate Maker", "Direct Traded" and "Growing Country" categories. Additionally, their bars performed quite well, the Cuzco 80 bar in particular being awarded the coveted "Best in Competition" award for dark bars.
